Board of Directors
History
The Pickens County Educators' Federal Credit Union was founded by eleven classroom teachers. The Credit Union received its charter in 1975. Those eleven charter members were leaders in the Pickens County Education Association (PCEA), which worked over two years to organize and promote a credit union which would serve the financial needs of teachers in Pickens County. The South Carolina Education Association (The SCEA) provided technical and administrative assistance to them during that organizational period with encouragement to continue their pursuit of a federally chartered credit union.
As orginally chartered, the credit union today serves employees of the School District of Pickens County and their families. It has over 1500 members with over $3 million of assets.
The first office for the credit union was located in an insurance agency facility just outside of Liberty, SC (the geographic center of Pickens County), so it was ideally located to serve all members. From the earlier days, the credit union has since relocated to its own building on South Peachtree Street, in Liberty, and has undergone renovations.
The staff consists of a full time manager, and two part time employees, a loan officer and a customer service repesentative. The Board of Director members are elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting.
